About Sandia Laboratory Federal Credit Union
SLFCU serves the high-tech and professional communities in Albuquerque, NM and Livermore, CA.
In 1948, 15 employees of Sandia National Laboratories saw the need for a credit union in Albuquerque. Since then, Sandia Laboratory Federal Credit Union has been dedicated to offering high value and outstanding personal service. Today, SLFCU has ten branches in New Mexico and California's Bay Area, more than 83,000 members, and over $2 billion in assets.
As a not-for-profit, member-owned financial cooperative that exists solely to serve its members, SLFCU can usually offer better rates on almost everything from car loans to credit cards. We don’t focus on making profits and paying stockholders. Instead, we use earnings to lower loan rates, raise savings rates, and reduce fees. SLFCU offers the mortgages, consumer loans, and secure deposit accounts you need for financial success.
Credit Unions all share the same philosophy: people helping people. We pride ourselves on serving members, not only as a financial institution, but also through financial education, community, and charitable causes.
The Board of Directors
SLFCU is governed by a Board of nine members elected by the membership. Board members serve three-year terms. Any adult member in good standing is eligible to run for the board. The Supervisory Committee
The Supervisory Committee has chosen to obtain an independent annual audit of SLFCU’s financial statements in order to fulfill their audit responsibility under NCUA regulations. Currently, the certified public accounting firm of Moss Adams conducts the annual audit. At the completion of each audit, the full report is available at the Credit Union's administrative office for review by the membership.
In addition, at the direction of the Supervisory Committee, both internal audit staff and independent audit firms are utilized to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of the credit union’s risk management, internal control, and governance processes.

SLFCU members and our sponsor, Sandia National Laboratories, have been active in the community for more than half a century. The Credit Union is proud to support the community through sponsorships, scholarships, donations, and volunteer work. In addition to the organizations listed below, our employees and members support many other community groups that are important to them.
Children's Hospitals of NM and Oakland, CA
Food collection bins are placed in our Albuquerque branches during the winter holiday season and donations are collected for local food banks during Albuquerque and Livermore shredding events.
The United Way
SLFCU employees generously support many different community organizations through The United Way. Employees participate through payroll deduction, and purchasing Jeans Stickers for casual attire days.
