About Sandia Laboratory Federal Credit Union
SLFCU serves the high-tech and professional communities in Albuquerque, NM and Livermore, CA.
In 1948, 15 employees of Sandia National Laboratories saw the need for a credit union in Albuquerque. Since then, Sandia Laboratory Federal Credit Union has been dedicated to offering high value and outstanding personal service. Today, SLFCU has ten branches in New Mexico and California's Bay Area, more than 79,000 members, and over $2 billion in assets.
As a not-for-profit, member-owned financial cooperative that exists solely to serve its members, SLFCU can usually offer better rates on almost everything from car loans to credit cards. We don’t focus on making profits and paying stockholders. Instead, we use earnings to lower loan rates, raise savings rates, and reduce fees. SLFCU offers the mortgages, consumer loans, and secure deposit accounts you need for financial success.
Credit Unions all share the same philosophy: people helping people. We pride ourselves on serving members, not only as a financial institution, but also through financial education, community, and charitable causes.
The Board of Directors
SLFCU is governed by a Board of nine members elected by the membership. Board members serve four-year terms. Any adult member in good standing is eligible to run for the board. Those wishing to stand for office must obtain sufficient signatures from other members to meet election requirements. Please use the Contact Us link at the top to request details.
The Supervisory Committee
The Supervisory Committee retains both internal and external auditors to review the operations and systems of internal control at the Credit Union. Audits are structured to coordinate both audit groups, with guidance and control by the Supervisory Committee. The audit programs are prepared in accordance with professional audit standards and are designed to identify areas to improve.
The Committee has retained the certified public accounting firm of Moss Adams to conduct an independent annual review of the Credit Union's financial statements. At the completion of each review, the full report is available at the Credit Union's administrative office for review by the membership.
If you have questions or concerns, we will address them promptly. You can submit concerns regarding CU policies and procedures, conflicts of interest, and/or fraud to: SLFCU Supervisory Committee, PO Box 13045, Albuquerque, NM 87191.
Our annual reports include thoughts from our Board Chairperson and President/CEO, information on our financial performance, and member interviews.
