Why did SLFCU make this change?

By allowing joint owners online and mobile banking access, all SLFCU members have complete access to their accounts with their individual online banking login. This is a more secure way for our members to access their accounts.

Can I opt-out of giving my joint owner access in online banking?

Primary account owners cannot opt-out of this functionality. Currently, joint account owners are able to access and transact on jointly owned accounts by visiting a branch or calling our Contact Center. This update is only extending existing joint owner access to our online banking services.

If you are a primary account owner and are concerned about your joint owner(s) having online access, we recommend you speak with an SLFCU representative to discuss the ownership structure of your account. We are happy to help you evaluate your options and determine the best account structure for your needs. Send us a secure message in online banking or call us at 505.293.0500 or 800.947.5328.

Why can’t my joint owner sign in and see our account?

Only joint owners who are SLFCU members with their own primary account can register for and access online and mobile banking.

If you are a joint owner and are not an SLFCU member with your own primary account, you can apply for membership.

I forgot I had a joint owner on my account. How do I remove them?

Joint owners must initiate their own removal from a jointly owned account. If you are a primary owner, you may ask your joint owner to call or visit any SLFCU branch to begin the removal process. If you are a joint owner, you may remove yourself by completing and returning a notarized copy of this form to SLFCU. The form can be mailed to SLFCU at P.O. Box 23040, Albuquerque, NM 87192 or brought to any branch.

Please note: notary services are available to SLFCU members free of charge at any branch.

Why am I seeing more accounts on my dashboard?

In mid-May, 2019, SLFCU members will see both their primary and jointly owned accounts in their online and mobile banking dashboards.

I don't want to see my jointly owned accounts in online banking. How do I hide them?

To hide an account in online banking, click the arrow next to your name in the upper right corner. Click 'Settings' then the 'Accounts' tab. Here you will see a list of all the accounts linked to your account. Click the pencil icon next to the account you wish to hide. Then select 'Hide This Account' and click 'Save'. To add a hidden account back to your online banking profile, repeat this process and un-select the 'Hide This Account' box.

How can I keep my online banking account secure?

SLFCU's online and mobile banking system offers several security features to help keep your account secure. One option is to enable two-factor authentication, which will require either a security question be correctly answered or a unique access code to be entered in addition to your username and password each time you log in. If you select to receive a code, you can receive it via email, text message, or voice call.

Another security feature you can enable is an online banking access alert. You can set up this notification to send you an email, text message, or push notification each time your online banking account is accessed.

To enable two-facator authentication or an online banking access alert, click on the down arrow next to your name in the upper right corner of online banking. Select "Settings" from the drop-down menu. For two-factor authentication, go to the "Security" tab and click the pencil icon next to the type of two-factor authentication you'd like to turn on. For online banking access alerts, go to the "Notifications" tab and click the gear icon to the right of "Online Banking Access Alert" and select if you would like to receive an email, text message, or push notification.

My joint owner scheduled a transfer. Why can’t I see it?

Pending transfers are only visible to the member who created it. In addition, only the member who scheduled the transfer can edit or cancel it.

Once the transfer is completed, it can be seen by both primary and joint owners in the account transaction history.

My joint owner performed a transfer, but when I log in it does not display in the recent activity on my Dashboard.

Only the member that initiated the transfer will see it in the recent activity area of their Dashboard. Once the transfer is completed, both account owners will be able to see it in the account transaction history.

If you are uncertain if a transfer has been scheduled, please check with your joint owner.

How can I tell which account owner initiated a transfer?

To determine which account owner initiated a transfer, open the history tab in the Transfers widget. Only transfers initiated by you will appear in this tab. If the transfer in question is not listed, it was created by another account owner.

To help distinguish which account owner initiates a transfer, we recommend making a note in the memo field when creating or scheduling a transfer.

Why am I seeing my transactions categorized in my account history? I don’t categorize my transactions.

If you have a joint owner, they have the ability to categorize transactions on your jointly owned account. Categories will appear to both account owners.

I am a joint owner. Can I change the nickname of my jointly owned account?

Yes. Each member can set or change a nickname on any account on which they have access. However, your nickname will not appear for other account owners. Members will only see the nicknames they choose.

Please note: the most recent account nickname added in online banking will be displayed on the monthly statement for that account regardless of which owner added it.

I created a budget for my jointly owned account; why can’t my joint owner see it?

Only the member that created the budget can see and edit it. All account owners have the ability to create their own budget for a jointly owned account.

Can I set up a Savings Goal on my jointly owned account?

Savings goals can only be created for accounts on which you are the primary owner.

There are memos on transactions in my account history. Where did they come from?

Both primary and joint account owners can add memos to posted transactions. Memos will display to both members.

How can I tell who is the primary or joint owner on an account?

This icon Joint account owner icon will display next to the account number for accounts on which you are a joint owner. For accounts on which you are the primary owner, you will not see this icon.

How can I tell who is a joint owner on my account?

If you are the primary owner, you can check your monthly statement to see the owners on your account.

Joint owners are not able to view the other owners on a jointly owned account.

Why can’t I see the eStatement for my jointly owned account in the eDocuments widget?

Members can only view eStatements for accounts on which they are the primary owner.

My joint owner set up a bill payment from our jointly owned account in the Pay Bills widget. Why can’t I see it?

Primary and joint owners have separate access to the Pay Bills widget. A bill payment created by one member cannot be seen or edited by the other. Once the bill is paid, it will appear in the account transaction history.

If you are uncertain if a bill has been scheduled within the Pay Bills Widget, please check with your joint owner.

Why can’t I see my account nicknames in the Pay Bills widget?

Unfortunately, account nicknames do not transfer into the Pay Bills widget.

Can a joint owner order checks?

Yes, joint owners can re-order checks. However, if checks have never been ordered for the account, or if changes have been made, checks must be ordered by an SLFCU employee.

To order checks, call us at 505.293.0500 or 800.947.5328, visit a branch, or send us a secure message in online or mobile banking.

I’m a joint owner. Can I deposit checks into my jointly owned account in online banking?

Yes, joint owners can deposit checks into their joint owned account using the Deposit Checks widget in online and mobile banking.

My joint owner deposited a check into our account. Why can’t I see it in the History tab of the Deposit Checks widget?

Only the member that deposited the check will see it in the history tab of the Deposit Checks widget. However, once the deposit is completed, both account owners will be able to see it in the account transaction history.

Why can’t I change the distribution of my direct deposit on my jointly owned account?

Only the primary owner can change the distribution of a direct deposit into a jointly owned account. If you are a joint owner, please speak with the primary owner about changing the distribution.

I am a co-borrower on a loan or credit card. Will this update affect what I see in online banking?

No, this update will not impact co-borrowers on loans or credit cards. If you are a co-borrower on a loan or credit card, you will still be able to view the accounts on which you are a co-borrower in online and mobile banking.

I am a co-signer or authorized user on a credit card. How does this update impact me?

This change will not impact co-signers or authorized users on credit cards. Access to accounts on which you are a co-signer or authorized signer is being considered for a future online and mobile banking update.

I sent a secure message to SLFCU. Can my joint owner see it?

No. Only the member who sent the secure message will have the ability to view the conversation in online and mobile banking.

My joint owner hid one of our jointly owned accounts, but I still see it when I log in. Why?

Both primary and joint owners have the ability to “hide” accounts for their individual login. Hidden account preferences do not apply to both members’ online banking view.

Why aren't all of my jointly owned accounts visible in online banking?

If you are a joint account owner on multiple accounts, it may take up to several hours for all of your jointly owned accounts to appear in your online banking dashboard. Please wait and check again later.
