Avoid ATM Fees & Surcharges
There are two different costs you might incur for using an out-of-network ATM. An ATM surcharge is assessed by a financial institution for using one of their ATMs when you are not a customer. Bankrate.com reports that the average surcharge for using an out-of-network ATM in 2014 was $2.77.
Financial institutions typically also collect ATM fees from their own customers if they use an ATM outside of their approved network. An SLFCU member who uses an out-of-network ATM would receive a $0.75* fee from SLFCU in addition to the surcharge.
NEARLY 30,000 SURCHARGE-FREE ATMs
You can avoid ATM surcharges from other financial institutions by using the CU Anytime and CO-OP network of nearly 30,000 ATMs nationwide. Find a CU Anytime or CO-OP ATM near you by using our locator. Or download our mobile app for iPhone or Android – you can access the locator without signing in by selecting “find us” from the in-app menu options. The mobile locator can use your device’s location to find surcharge-free ATMs near you. You can also send a text with a street address or zip code to 91989 for a list of nearby CO-OP ATMs.
SLFCU charges a $0.50* fee at CU Anytime and CO-OP ATMs if you go over your ATM transaction limit for the month – 20 ATM transactions with a Quick Cash checking account or 10 with a Money Manager Account.
However, SLFCU members who are enrolled for eStatements and eNotices receive an unlimited number of free transactions at CU Anytime and CO-OP ATMs. To enroll, log in to online banking and select the Member Services widget.
