Mastercard is replacing their Identity Theft Alert program with a new, enhanced Mastercard ID Theft Protection™ service on December 31, 2019.
The new service will offer the same benefits as the previous program, along with the following new features:
- TransUnion Credit Bureau Monitoring will monitor your TransUnion credit file for changes that could indicate fraud. If one such change occurs, Mastercard ID Theft Protection will send you an alert notification so you can take immediate action to minimize damage to your credit.
- Financial Account Takeover will monitor high risk transactions to thwart account takeover attempts. An alert will be sent any time a log-in on a monitored account requires knowledge-based authentication questions.
Members currently enrolled in the Mastercard Identity Theft Alert program will need to enroll in this new program in order to continue having Mastercard identity theft protection. If no action is taken, they will be disenrolled from Mastercard’s existing ID Theft Protection program at midnight on December 31, 2019.
