About Us

Sandia Laboratory Federal Credit Union serves communities in Albuquerque and Farmington, NM and in Livermore, CA.

In 1948, 15 employees of Sandia National Laboratories saw the need for a credit union in Albuquerque. Since then, Sandia Laboratory Federal Credit Union has been dedicated to offering high value and outstanding personal service. Today, we not only serve SNL employees and their family members, but also the employees and families of more than 1,400 partner companies and others. Learn who can join.

SLFCU has 13 branches in New Mexico and California's Bay Area, more than 140,000 members, and more than $3.4 billion in assets.

As a not-for-profit, member-owned financial cooperative that exists solely to serve its members, SLFCU offers competitive rates on certificates, credit cards, home loans and auto loans, and savings and checking accounts. We don’t focus on making profits and paying stockholders. Instead, we use earnings to lower loan rates, raise savings rates, and reduce fees. SLFCU offers the mortgages, consumer loans, and secure deposit accounts you need for financial success.

Credit unions all share the same philosophy: people helping people. We pride ourselves on serving members, not only as a financial institution, but also through financial education, community, and charitable causes.

Board of Directors & Supervisory Committee

SLFCU is governed by a Board of nine volunteers elected by the membership. Directors serve three-year terms. Any adult member in good standing is eligible to run for the board. Those wishing to stand for office must obtain sufficient signatures from other members to meet election requirements.

The Supervisory Committee has retained the certified public accounting firm of Moss Adams LLP to conduct an independent audit of SLFCU's financial statements. At the completion of the audit, the full report will be available at the Credit Union's administrative office for review by the membership.

In addition, at the direction of the Supervisory Committee, both internal audit staff and independent audit firms are utilized to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of the credit union’s risk management, internal control, and governance processes.

If you have questions or concerns, we will address them promptly. You can submit concerns regarding Credit Union policies and procedures, conflicts of interest, and/or fraud to: SLFCU Supervisory Committee, PO Box 13045, Albuquerque, NM 87191.

Community Involvement

SLFCU members and our sponsor, Sandia National Laboratories, have been active in the community for more than half a century. The Credit Union is proud to support the community through sponsorships, scholarships, donations, and volunteer work. In addition to the organizations listed below, our employees and members support many other community groups that are important to them.

Learn about our community impact in 2022.

We support the UNM Children's Hospital through the NM Credit Unions Connected Academy (NMCUCA). Proceeds raised at local fundraising events and from selling Sandy the Lab stuffed animals in New Mexico SLFCU branches will be donated to this important cause.

We support UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland by donating a portion of proceeds from selling Sandy the Lab stuffed animals in California SLFCU branches.

Food collection bins are placed in our Albuquerque-area branches during the winter holiday season and donations are collected for local food banks during Albuquerque and Livermore shredding events.

Through payroll deductions and other fundraising efforts, SLFCU employees generously support many different community organizations via the United Way.
