Documents Needed to Complete an SLFCU Auto Loan
BUYING FROM A DEALERSHIP
- Purchase agreement/buyer’s order signed by a dealership representative and yourself
- Any dealer-provided documentation
- Proof of insurance
- This is not the insurance card you keep in your vehicle. Your insurance company must provide you a copy of your full insurance policy, and the declarations page of that policy must list Sandia Laboratory Federal Credit Union as the lien holder for your vehicle. Submit your proof of insurance online
BUYING FROM A PRIVATE SELLER
Within New Mexico:
- Original title
- NM Title Application from the buyer
- Bill of sale, completed and signed by both parties
- SLFCU can provide a bill of sale, or you can get one from the state MVD office or website.
- New Mexico driver's license or New Mexico identification card (if using an out-of-state ID, two proofs of residency within 90 days are required)
- Proof of insurance
- This is not the insurance card you keep in your vehicle. Your insurance company must provide you a copy of your full insurance policy, and the declarations page of that policy must list Sandia Laboratory Federal Credit Union as the lien holder for your vehicle. Submit your proof of insurance online.
- Notarized power of attorney for buyer and seller (SLFCU will provide this at pre-approval or when the loan is being completed)
- Emission certificate (Bernalillo County residents only), may be completed after funding
Outside of New Mexico (in addition to above):
- VIN inspection, required for all out-of-state title transfers and government titles
- To complete a VIN inspection, the Public VIN (under the window) and Nader Sticker (driver side door jamb) must be visible.
- Inspections are good for 90 days if the VIN inspection was done by an agent of the state or a registered MVD office; if done by the police department, they are good for 30 days.
REFINANCES
- Current vehicle registration (signed)
- NM Title Application from the buyer
- 10-day payoff instructions obtained from the current lienholder
- New Mexico driver's license or New Mexico identification card (if using an out-of-state ID, two proofs of residency within 90 days are required)
