Doing Well Means Doing Right by Our Neighbors

SLFCU employees posing with bikes built for Toys for Tots

SLFCU brings the cooperative spirit of “people helping people” to life every day – not just as a trusted financial partner but as a reliable community partner, too.

Our employees are at the heart of our efforts to make a positive difference. Throughout the year, they lent their time, money, and talents to causes important to them and their communities. For example, more than 400 employees came together in October to assemble 80 children’s bicycles that were purchased by the Credit Union for distribution by the Marine Toys for Tots.

OUR EMPLOYEES ARE EPIC

SLFCU’s Engagement, Philanthropy, & Inclusion Committee (EPIC) organized several charitable efforts for employees to give back in 2022, including:

  • Fundraisers and onsite support for Locker#505, providing clothing to K-12 students in need across the Albuquerque metro area
  • Tree planting with TreeNM in Albuquerque’s Avalon neighborhood
  • Payroll contributions to the United Way of Central New Mexico

2022 COMMUNITY AWARD

Adrian Franco posing with his Community Award

For exemplifying the heart and soul of volunteerism, Adrian Franco, a Business Systems Specialist at our Jefferson branch, received SLFCU’s very first Community Award in October 2022.

As EPIC co-chair, Adrian has coordinated several of the committee’s philanthropic efforts and formed strong relationships with nonprofit organizations including Ronald McDonald House and Habitat for Humanity. He has been an enthusiastic volunteer at employee fundraisers such as Frito Pie Day and the ECHO Food Bank Zombie Run in Farmington, both of which benefited local food banks.

Thank you, Adrian!
